Use as a decolorizer for Ziehl-Neelsen staining using Auramine Phenol to identify tuberculosis mycobacterium. Pro-Lab Diagnostics™ Auramine Differentiator is a ready-to-use solution that is manufactured to the highest standards, according to all current regulatory requirements, and CE labelled.

Pro-Lab Diagnostics™ Microbiological Stain solutions are manufactured in purpose-designed laboratories to the highest standards using the finest raw materials. Strict quality control and filtering techniques are employed prior to release to ensure that all solutions offer excellent performance characteristics.

Acid-fast organisms, such as Mycobacterium, have wax-like, nearly impermeable cell walls that make them highly resistant to typical microbiological stains. They require staining via either the Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) method, which requires heating, or the Kinyoun method, which does not. The basic method seen in Gram staining is used: a primary stain is applied, a differentiator removes the stain from non-acid-fast organisms and a counterstain is then applied to identify the decolored organisms.

  • Ready-to-use solution in a convenient, economical size
  • Acts as a decolorizer for non-acid-fast organisms in the Ziehl-Neelsen staining method
  • Use after staining with Auramine Phenol (for identification of Tuberculosis mycobacterium) and before applying a counterstain
  • Solution of hydrochloric acid in ethanol and methanol
