Recombinant Protein

For maximum recovery please spin prior to use. Unless noted below, aliquots of the 5 μg, 10 μg and 20 μg sizes of kinase are not recommended as materials can be used in original packaging until exhausted. For larger sizes, the number of freeze/thaws may be reduced by preparing aliquots, aliquots below 20 μL are not recommended. Please never store a kinase diluted. If properly stored at -80C, this product is guaranteed for 6 months from date of purchase. This CDK11/cyclin C recombinant human protein (CDK11: 1-502, cyclin C: 1-283) was expressed in insect cells. CDK11/cyclin C recombinant human protein is also available in our SelectScreen™ Kinase Profiling Service. Validated for use with the LanthaScreen™ Eu Kinase Binding assay Available in multiple pack sizes for convenient use Also available in our SelectScreen Kinase Profiling Service Protein Form: Recombinant, Active, Catalytic The gene accession number for CDK11 and cyclin C are NP_055891.1 and NP_005181.2.

Cyclin-dependent kinase 11 (CDK11, and also known as CDK19) and Cyclin C are key players in regulating transcription and cell cycle progression, particularly during apoptosis and cytokinesis. CDK11 exists in two major isoforms, CDK11p46 and CDK11p110, which are generated through alternative splicing and proteolytic processing. Cyclin C partners specifically with the CDK11p46 isoform, forming a complex that is involved in RNA splicing and mediating transcriptional responses necessary for cellular stress responses. CDK11's gene is located on human chromosome 1p36.3-p36.33 and its role in mediating cytokinesis involves phosphorylation of proteins that control the breakdown of the nuclear matrix and spindle formation. Cyclin C, when associated with CDK11, has been shown to have roles in the regulation of transcription factor activity, impacting the transcriptional program during cell cycle checkpoints. Aberrant expression and functioning of the CDK11/Cyclin C complex have been implicated in tumorigenesis, highlighting its importance in cancer biology. Furthermore, CDK11 is essential for maintaining mitochondrial integrity and function, thus further broadening its influence on cellular health beyond mere transcriptional control.
