The Corning range of high-quality serum products perfectly complement the Corning range of sterile-filtered, low-endotoxin, classical cell culture media. Within this portfolio, US-sourced Premium Fetal Bovine Serum, with the lowest endotoxin and haemoglobin specifications, is collected from cattle herds only within the United States. It is also available heat-inactivated. USDA Approved Source Fetal Bovine Serum, also low in endotoxin and haemoglobin, is collected from abattoirs located in countries free of BSE and FMD and approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for bovine product import. The animals are inspected pre and post-mortem by licensed veterinarians and the material is tested for bovine diseases prior to import and further processing in FDA registered facilities under cGMPs. This is also available heat-inactivated. Specialty Serum products are also offered by Corning for a variety of product applications. All sera is separated from the collected blood by refrigerated centrifugation, true-pooled, filtered, and immediately frozen. Only raw serum that meets our strict specifications for endotoxin, residual haemoglobin and pH is approved for production. Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is a light brown-colored liquid separated from the blood of the bovine foetus. All material meets the approval of the U. S. Department of Agriculture and is obtained from sources free of BSE, Foot and Mouth Disease, and other reportable diseases pertaining to the species.
