Description

Manufactured according to Eur. Pharm. Chapter 4 (4.1.1) and prepared in an ISO 9001 facility. Phenolphthalein Solution, EP Grade, Reagecon™ is a ready-to-use 0.1g/100mL solution used as an indicator in acid–base titrations. It turns colorless in acidic solutions and red/pink in basic solutions.

Phenolphthalein's common use is as an indicator in acid-base titrations. It also serves as a component of universal indicator, together with methyl red, bromothymol blue and thymol blue. This solution is prepared by dissolving 0.1g phenolphthalein in 80mL alcohol, and diluted to 100mL with water. The solution turns red at pH ≥10, is colorless at ≤8.2 and is pink in between.
