Description
C18 Spin Tips for Peptide Desalting and Cleanup
Pierce™ C18 spin tips are designed for rapid, reproducible peptide desalting, cleanup, and concentration prior to mass spectrometry analysis. Utilizing reversed-phase C18 chemistry, these tips help enable efficient peptide binding and recovery while removing salts, detergents, and other contaminants that can interfere with downstream applications.
Used in combination with Pierce Spin Tip Adaptors (Catalog No. A40011776) and low protein binding microcentrifuge tubes (Catalog No. 90410), C18 spin tips support a simple centrifugation-based workflow that delivers consistent and reliable results across a wide range of sample inputs.
Features of C18 Spin Tips
- Reliable – proven reversed-phase C18 chemistry
- Efficient – effectively removes interfering contaminants to improve spectral quality
- Streamlined – simple workflow using tip adaptor and centrifugation steps
Applications
- Peptide desalting prior to LC-MS analysis
- Cleanup following protein digestion workflows
- Removal of salts, buffers, and contaminants
- Peptide concentration and sample preparation
How to Use
C18 spin tips use a bind–wash–elute workflow performed by centrifugation. Tips are placed into a tip adaptor seated in a microcentrifuge tube for each step. Simply activate and equilibrate prior to adding your acidified sample. To enhance peptide binding repeat the sample loading step one time. Lastly, wash 2-3 times and elute into a fresh tube using an acetonitrile solution. Refer to Table 1 in the Figures for recommended buffers, volumes and spin speeds for each tip size.
