Description
Samarium(III) nitrate hydrate is used as a catalyst in von Pechmann condensation for the preparation of coumarins. Further, it finds use in optical glasses, structural ceramics, catalysts, electrical components and photo-optical material. It is also used as a laboratory reagent. In addition to this, it is used in NMR spectroscopy for spectral resolution and is used for doping purposes.
