BD Vacutainer™ Eclipse™ PST™ II Plasma Separator Tubes
Description
During centrifugation of Eclipse PST II tubes, an inert gel separates serum and red blood cells, preventing the contamination of plasma from the separated cellular components. Routine analytes (e.g., potassium, glucose) and special chemistries (e.g., therapeutic drugs, proteins, peptides, steroids and vitamins) demonstrate a high degree of stability.
- The main advantages of gel tubes versus non-gel tubes are:
- Stable barrier between plasma and red blood cells
- Better analyte stability and sample quality
- Optimized workflow: short centrifugation time, sample processing and archiving in one tube
- No possibility of confusion due to the use of secondary tubes
- Storage: Store at 4-25°C, protected from direct sunlight; optimum separation is achieved at 20-25°C
- Mixing the tube: Invert tube 8-10 times immediately after collecting sample to avoid microclotting
- Centrifugation conditions at 18-25°C: 1300-2000g for 10 minutes or 3000g for 5 minutes
