Limited-Use Hoods
Limited-Use Hoods
Limited-use, breathable hoods act as a barrier to particles, microorganisms, non-hazardous light, liquid splashes, dirt, and grime. They are designed with a face- or eyes-only opening. There are two types to choose from:
• Cleanroom hoods: These are worn over the head and cover the neck and/or shoulders to prevent hair and skin cell contamination in cleanroom environments. They are loose-fitting to allow masks, respirators, eyewear, and other cleanroom clothing to be worn. Common low-shedding and non-shedding cleanroom hood materials include, but are not limited to, Tyvek, SMS, and microporous-coated fabrics (MP). Cleanroom hoods are ISO-rated and are available in sterile or non-sterile options.
• General purpose hoods: These are worn over the head and cover the neck to provide protection against hazardous dry particulates (dust and dirt) and non-hazardous liquid splashes and sprays. General purpose hoods are worn in conjunction with eye protection, respiratory protection, and other personal protective clothing depending on the application.
