Beschreibung

3,3’,5,5’-Tetramethylbenzidine (TMB, CAS # 54827-17-7) is a blue chromogenic substance used in staining techniques such as immunohistochemistry.

TMB is a substrate for horseradish peroxidase. Recommended for ELISA (microwell) procedures,3,3?,5,5?-Tetramethylbenzidine has been used in a study to demonstrate that by measuring substrate absorption values off the absorption maximum, the measuring range of any immunoenzymometric assay can be extended significantly without jeopardizing assay characteristics. 3,3?,5,5?-Tetramethylbenzidine has also been used in a study to understand the formation of CuS concave superstructures with peroxidase-like activity.

General Description

• TMB is an aromatic amine that acts as a hydrogen donor in horseradish peroxidase-catalyzed reactions
• The transfer of hydrogen results in a blue stain associated with the target of interest
• This pH-dependent color change can be confirmed using spectrophotometric methods
• TMB is commonly used in immunohistochemistry; TMB is light-sensitive, and all applications should be performed in the dark

• TMB is suitable for immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry applications including ELISA and cell and tissue staining
