Description

Isolate, cultivate and /or carry out susceptibility testing of a wide variety of anaerobic organisms from clinical samples with this selective medium.

Isolate, cultivate and /or carry out susceptibility testing of a wide variety of anaerobic organisms from clinical samples with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Anaerobe Blood Agar (Wilkins Chalgren) with Neomycin. The addition of Neomycin- an aminoglycoside antibiotic inhibits the growth of most of the facultative Gram-negative anaerobic bacteria while allowing the growth of many other anaerobic bacteria. Anaerobe Blood Agar (Wilkins Chalgren) with Neomycin is a modification of the medium described by Wilkins and Chalgren1.

Use Anaerobe Blood Agar with Neomycin for the isolation of general anaerobes from clinical samples and for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of aerobic bacteria using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) procedure.

  • Selective for certain anaerobic organisms: the presence of Neomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic is bactericidal to many Gram negative facultative anaerobes and some staphylococci. This is added to the medium to inhibit accompanying flora.
  • Ready-to-use convenience of prepared media.
