Description

Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis: Human, Chimpanzee, Gibbon, Monkey, Bovine, Dog, Panda (100%); Mouse, Rat, Horse, Pig (94%); Hamster, Elephant (89%). For IHC(P), use heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary antibody, slides were incubated with biotinylated secondary antibody, followed by alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.

MCHR1 is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family 1. It is an integral plasma membrane protein which binds melanin-concentrating hormone. The encoded protein can inhibit cAMP accumulation and stimulate intracellular calcium flux, and is probably involved in the neuronal regulation of food consumption. Although structurally similar to somatostatin receptors, this protein does not seem to bind somatostatin.
